Staff Bios

Computer And Software Enterprises, Inc., founded in 1980 in San Luis Obispo, California, develops and distributes ABLE, portfolio management software for the asset-based lending industry. The corporation initially focused on the design and implementation of proprietary systems for large corporations seeking a competitive advantage in their respective markets. These early clients included W.R. Grace, ITT Continental Baking, Union Sugar, and California State University bookstores.


Michael P. Salucci

After attending California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a major in computer science, Michael P. Salucci began his career in government. After seven years he had attained the position of senior project manager with responsibility for several of the county’s major computer systems, including Property Tax, Payroll/Personnel, and Welfare. In 1980 Mike was a founding principal in Computer And Software Enterprises, Inc. (CASE).

Mike is the primary architect of CASE’s ABLE software system, which is recognized as the premier software solution in the industry. Mike has a very active and close business partnership with most of the progressive top-tier asset based lenders in the country. Over the years they have included essentially all of the major financial institutions in the U.S. As a hands-on, proactive advisor and, he has guided these organizations in using technology to significantly enhance their operations by increasing both effectiveness and efficiency. He works closely with each client, assisting them in developing solutions for their unique, real-time operational challenges as well as advising and supporting them in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives for future growth and success.

Mike was also a founder of The DocuTeam, a central coast document storage, retrieval, and records management company; is President of FirstStop WebSearch, an award-winning Internet search tool company; is the principal of Salucci Holdings, LLC, a real-estate development/investment firm; and a member of American Perspective Bank’s Shareholder Advisory committee.

Karen M. Benson

Karen Benson is the Chief Operating Officer and corporate Vice President of CASE. She has served as the ABLE Product Manager since 2003, continuing to oversee all product development and service issues, in addition to her corporate responsibilities.

Karen, originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland, served the County of San Luis Obispo for three years as Data Processing Supervisor in its Information Services Division, before joining CASE in 2001. Previously she worked as a Senior Systems Analyst for Newfoundland Telephone Company Limited and graduated with Honours from Memorial University of Newfoundland.  

Rickey D. Gilligan

Rick Gilligan began his career in 1976 working for Cal Poly as a RSTS/E and UNIX systems administrator and systems programmer, writing disk device drivers and networking drivers for an early version of UNIX, while studying Computer Science. He also worked as a computer operator on IBM mainframe systems for Cal Poly and Schilling-McCormick.

He began working for CASE as an independent contractor in 1980 and became a full-time Programmer/Analyst at CASE in 1981 developing programming tools and standards.

He was one of the key initial developers of ABLE in 1983 and has been involved in everything from software and database design to programming, testing, quality assurance, project management, support, customer training, hardware configuration, and sales.

Since 1980, he has also been responsible for managing CASE's development and support systems and network --- from installation to troubleshooting to day-to-day operations at both our main office and our hot-standby disaster recovery site.  

David J. Oksner

David Oksner is a Senior Software Specialist and System Administrator for CASE. He graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in 1999 with a B.S. degree in Computer Science.

At that time, he had already been working for CASE as a Programmer/ Analyst for the ABLE project for three and a half years, eventually becoming involved in all aspects of the product, including design, programming, testing, debugging, and customer support. He has also been involved in the design and management of the servers and network for both the main development systems as well as the disaster recovery network.  

Ruth E. Kuhn

Ruth Kuhn is the Director of Administrative Services at CASE and has been with the company since 1987. She oversees Contract Administration, Employee Benefit Programs, and Corporate Finances.

Ruth graduated Summa cum Laude from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a B.A. degree in History. Prior to coming to CASE, she was the bookkeeper and office manager for United Sweets, Construction Management Services, and Showcase Rental Cars.  

Robert A. Moss

Bob Moss came to CASE in January 2001 as a Software Specialist, after a full career as a Programmer/Analyst and Systems and Programming Manager with the County of San Luis Obispo. He developed many Business, Financial, Property, and Tax Systems for the County and managed a staff of 35 Programmer/Analysts before retiring with nearly 30 years of service.

Bob graduated from California Polytechnic University with a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Computer Science in 1971 and a M.S. in Mathematics in 1972. He worked for Sperry Univac on the Titan T3D missile guidance system in 1972. He taught, part-time, Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer Science courses at the local Community College for 17 years.
